Falanore, Principality of Arethane

Far in the northern waters of Arethane lies the island Principality of Falanore.

Long before the rise and fall of empires on the mainland, the island of Falanore was a jewel of Elven civilization. Cradled by silver tides and crowned in evergreen glades, it was a land of peace and poetry, where Moon Elves sang to the stars, High Elves charted the heavens, and Wood Elves communed with ancient spirits hidden deep in the emerald heart of the island. It was a place of quiet magic and ancient wisdom, and for a time, it was enough.

But peace is a fragile thing.

When the Elven kingdoms turned their gaze inward or were drawn away by wars on other fronts, the Humans came. Not as guests. Not as allies. But as conquerors.

The fall of Falanore was swift and merciless. The towers of the Moon Lords were toppled. Sacred groves were burned. Elves, those who survived the slaughter, were shackled in chains and forced to serve their new Human masters. For centuries, Elves and Half-Elves were treated as property, as tools, as burdens. Their culture was suppressed, their language forbidden, their magic feared and hunted. Even after the chains were broken and slavery officially abolished, they remained second-class beings, tolerated but never respected.

Hope lived only in whispers, in secret songs, and in the blood of those who remembered what had been stolen.

Among those was Janyana Iarven, a Half-Elven woman who bore a secret child, Rutha`Nolis, the son of Rhysanus Ariquis, a powerful Elven noble who would one day become the architect of Falanore's salvation. But Janyana, driven by love or madness, took the child and fled, hiding him deep within the shattered bones of Elvendom. She tried to kill Rhysanus. She failed. And she died. Her child vanished, a living question mark in the tale of two worlds.

Years passed. Then decades. And then, at last, the Reunification War began.

It was Rhysanus who led the armies of the Elves, rallying not just soldiers but an entire people fractured by centuries of loss. His banner did not speak of vengeance, it whispered of restoration. And when the flames of war finally reached the shores of Falanore, it was not a conquest that followed, it was a reckoning. The Elves returned, and with them came the sea winds of change.

The Humans were driven out or subdued. Their laws dismantled. The old groves were blessed anew, and the moon shone once more on free Elven soil.

In the war’s aftermath, Rhysanus named Falanore a Principality of the restored Kingdom of Arethane. To govern it, he appointed a noble of ancient lineage and unshaken resolve, Prince Eirik Elessedil, a Moon Elf whose heart bore both the sorrow of the past and the vision of a brighter dawn. At his side stands his wife, Princess Miriel Elessedil, a gentle but unyielding spirit known for her wisdom, healing arts, and devotion to restoring Elven dignity.

Under their rule, Falanore has begun to bloom again.

Its population, 19 million strong, is a living mosaic of Elven subraces. Moon Elves, who once ruled the high towers, now lead again. High Elves return to their scrolls and silver scepters, rebuilding the arcane academies. Wood Elves walk the forests with reverent steps, reclaiming what was lost beneath root and ash. Even the Grey Elves, few and enigmatic, have emerged to advise, observe, and preserve. Among them live the descendants of conquerors and the mixed-blood children of both worlds, Humans and Half-Elves who now seek their place in a realm reborn.

And through it all, the Fae return, tentatively, curiously, drawn to the threads of magic that once wove Falanore into the very fabric of the world. Their presence is a sign, some say, that the island’s spirit is awakening.

But not all wounds heal easily.

Beneath the joy of liberation lies a tension, between justice and mercy, between those who remember oppression and those who wish to forget it. Still, for now, Falanore stands. Not as it once was, and not yet as it might be, but alive. Singing. Dreaming.
