At the dawn of the Dragon-Elf War, the noble dragons of light stood firmly beside the Elves, rallying against the darkness wrought by Styphon, the God of Domination and Flame. Yet their alliance was short-lived.
Unbeknownst to the dragons, Tiamat, the Five-Headed Queen of Darkness and Styphon’s mate, had enacted a treacherous plan. She stole the eggs of the good-aligned dragons, spiriting them away to shadowy fortresses deep within the planes of evil. When the dragons learned of this theft, Tiamat revealed her cruelty: if they did not stand down and abandon the Elves, she would destroy their unborn children.
With grief and fury in their hearts, the good dragons reluctantly withdrew from the war. But Tiamat’s designs went far beyond mere blackmail.
With the assistance of her most vile agents, Dracart, a dark wizard of the Black Robes; Wyrllish, a high priest of Tiamat; and Harkiel, a sadistic red dragon, she performed the Ritual of Corruption. This dark sorcery twisted the noble eggs into monstrous parodies of dragonkind: Draconians.
These creatures were bred as a personal army for Tiamat, shock troopers in her legions. From birth, Draconians were raised in cruelty. They were fed only scraps, forced to fight for every mouthful, ensuring the survival of only the strongest. This bred not only physical toughness, but a hatred of the Elves, who were blamed for the misery of their existence. By the time they reached the battlefield, they were vicious, disciplined, and utterly ruthless.
Though monstrous in origin, Draconians held a deep reverence for dragons, especially Tiamat and her Highlords. Compared to goblins, ogres, and mercenaries, Draconians proved to be far more loyal and competent soldiers. Many variants existed, some brutish and powerful, others gifted in arcane arts, but all were bound by a singular purpose: the annihilation of Elvenkind.
The Fall of GilaYsse / The Birth of Atlan`Ysse
In the final years of the war, the Elves crowned their last and greatest monarch: King Rhysal Starweaver, a direct descendant of Tharadryn and Gwenna, and a rare union of mage and warrior. Under his leadership, the tide began to shift, for a time.
Sensing impending defeat, Styphon, son of Tiamat, conceived a new stratagem. He took his most fearsome warrior, the silver dragon Alestria Tirandiel, and transformed her into the likeness of an Elven maiden. Wounded and seemingly near death, she was left where the Elven King would find her.
As planned, Rhysal found Alestria and tended to her wounds personally. In time, he grew to love her, and she, unexpectedly, returned that love. Against the will of Styphon, Alestria revealed her true identity and the dark designs for which she was created.
Styphon, enraged by her betrayal, sought to smite her. But Rhysal intervened, saving her life. In the aftermath, Alestria, hovering between life and death, was seized by visions, prophetic glimpses of possible futures.
In one vision, she saw the utter destruction of both Elves and Dragons, unless a bond of love could be forged between the two races. A prophesied Elven King, born of a cursed bloodline, and beholden to Styphonm and a Dragon Queen, faithful to the Seldarine, would one day unite their peoples through love and marriage. Their union would be the salvation of both.
Together, Rhysal and Alestria forged a plan. In an act of immense sacrifice, they joined their souls, becoming one being, a fusion of Elven grace and Draconic power. Their combined spirit was then split into two, each containing the essence of both Elf and Dragon. These spirits would be reborn in the destined Elven King and Dragon Queen, in a future yet to come.
To protect this future, 10,000 Elven Highmages performed the greatest ritual ever known. The ancient land of Gila`Ysse was submerged and cast into another realm, hidden beneath the seas, renamed AtlanYsse, the Lost Elven Land. The elves of Gila`Ysse were scattered to other realms, carrying with them the memory of a paradise lost.
The Reawakening of Atlan`Ysse
Many ages passed.
Then, Alestria Tirandiel, now a divine spirit of prophecy, saw the long-awaited union, the destined Elven King Rhysanus, born of a cursed bloodline, beholden to Styphon , and Silvarae, a Dragon Queen loyal to the Seldarine.
On the day of their marriage, the ancient spells that bound Atlan`Ysse beneath the ocean began to fray.
Within months, the lost continent began to rise. As Atlan`Ysse breached the surface, it split the Island Kingdom of Arethane in two, birthing massive tidal waves and earthquakes that reshaped the world. Yet the Elven cities, protected by ancient magics, remained untouched.
And thus, the lost kingdom of Atlan`Ysse was restored, a living memory of a forgotten age, a symbol of hope reborn through love and sacrifice.
