House Ilkwaer

Heraldic Coat of Arms

Rank: Noble House of Jordaine

Type: Teu`Tel`Quessir {Moon}

Motto or Saying:

"Through Knowledge, We Illuminate the Path."

Background:

Once a great and prestigious house, House Ilkwaer was renowned as the keepers of knowledge, scribes of history, and advisors to the Elven courts. Their ancestral seat in Rhyanne was home to the Luminous Archive, an unmatched collection of elven history, lore, and arcane wisdom.

However, during the dark years before the Grand Retreat, disaster struck. As tensions between Elves and Humans escalated, soldiers from Harak launched a brutal assault on House Ilkwaer's estate. The attack was swift and merciless, and nearly the entire family was slain in the massacre. The halls of wisdom that had stood for centuries were reduced to blood-stained ruins.

Lord Alaric Ilkwaer, then a young scribe and scholar, was the only survivor. He had been away on diplomatic duties when the attack occurred. Upon returning, he found his house in ruin, his family slain, and the archives destroyed.

With nothing but his name, his knowledge, and the duty to preserve what remained of his family's legacy, Alaric joined the retreat to Jordaine. There, he sought to rebuild what had been lost, establishing The Quill and Scroll Scriptorium in Newhaven. Though no longer a great noble house in the traditional sense, House Ilkwaer endures through Alaric's dedication to history, wisdom, and record-keeping.

To this day, Lord Alaric carries the grief of his fallen kin but also the unyielding resolve to ensure that the knowledge of House Ilkwaer is never truly lost.
