A year ago, Dorex arrived in Newhaven under unknown circumstances, drawn by the opportunities the town presented for manipulation and control. It carefully observed Velara from the shadows, learning her routines, speech patterns, and interactions. When the moment was right, Dorex struck, silencing the real Velara Moonshadow in the dead of night and used Mind bond to assume her place with chilling precision. The real Velara was a respected midwife, known for her warmth, wisdom, and deep knowledge of herbal medicine. Dorex has gone to great lengths to uphold this reputation, continuing to provide prenatal care, assisting in births, and offering herbal remedies, all while secretly advancing its own agenda. The deception is so complete that not even those closest to Velara have suspected the switch. The Whisper, The Hidden Face of Blackmail Though Dorex plays the part of Velara flawlessly, it has also taken on another identity, the enigmatic figure known only as "The Whisper" a human known as "Taren Vale". In this form, Dorex dresses in dark, layered clothing designed to be unassuming yet fine enough to suggest an air of authority. A hood obscures much of its face, with only glowing eyes and a faint, knowing smirk visible in the shadows. As The Whisper, Dorex engages in blackmail and manipulation, gathering secrets and using them as leverage. It carefully selects its targets, people of influence, those with something to hide, or those who can be easily pressured into compliance. One such victim is Alaric Greenleaf, the Wood Elf apothecary, whom The Whisper has ensnared in a web of coercion. Dorex never allows The Whisper and Velara to be connected, ensuring that the facade of the gentle midwife remains untarnished. It moves between these identities with ease, maintaining absolute control over its dual existence. Personality & Methods As Velara Moonshadow: Dorex exhibits a calm, nurturing, and wise demeanor, maintaining the illusion of a caring healer. It provides genuine medical care to maintain credibility and trust, making its deception all the more insidious. As Taren Vale: Cold, calculating, and ruthless. Dorex is a master of psychological manipulation, using subtle threats and veiled implications to keep its victims in line. As Dorex Rothkin: In its true form, Dorex is eerily smooth-featured with pale, almost translucent skin and featureless silver eyes.
