Erlan Faerondalan,

Newhaven Guard/Scout

Erlan Faerondalan is a swift and cunning scout serving in the defense of Newhaven. Born in the Kingdom of Arethane, he hails from a lesser-known branch of elven warriors, trained not for direct combat but for reconnaissance, sabotage, and survival in the wilds. Unlike the rigid discipline of the Elven Knights or the structured order of the town guards, Erlan thrives in the unpredictable, using his wits, speed, and stealth to navigate both the dangers of the frontier and the complexities of elven society.

From a young age, Erlan showed a talent for moving unseen. Whether it was sneaking out of his training halls or vanishing into the forests for days at a time, he had an instinct for evasion and survival that set him apart. Rather than forcing him into the formal ranks of the army, his instructors encouraged his natural abilities, guiding him toward the path of the scout. His training focused on tracking, camouflage, escape tactics, and silent movement, skills that made him invaluable in gathering intelligence on potential threats before they could strike.

Though he serves Newhaven, Erlan has never been one for strict rules or noble ideals. His unprincipled nature means that while he has a strong sense of personal loyalty, he is not bound by the same rigid moral codes as his more disciplined counterparts. He will follow orders—so long as they make sense to him—but he has no qualms about bending the rules if it means getting the job done.

Erlan has a reputation among his fellow soldiers as someone who enjoys pushing boundaries, whether in battle or in conversation. His sharp tongue and mischievous wit have gotten him into trouble more than once, but few can deny his effectiveness in the field. When tracking a target, setting an ambush, or slipping past enemy lines, there are few in Newhaven who can match his skill.

Despite his roguish tendencies, Erlan is fiercely protective of his comrades. He has little patience for politics or bureaucracy but will stand by his fellow soldiers when it matters most. He is particularly close to the archers and skirmishers of Newhaven, finding camaraderie among those who, like him, operate on the edges of battle rather than at the center.

Whether scouting for incoming threats, setting traps for unwary enemies, or slipping into dangerous places unnoticed, Erlan remains an essential, if unpredictable, part of Newhaven, s defense. While others fight with honor, duty, or devotion, Erlan fights for the thrill of the hunt, the survival of his people, and, above all, the freedom to live by his own rules.
