Beryn Sinthariel

Ranger/Monster Hunter

Beryn Sinthariel is a master of the wilds, a slayer of the unnatural, and a guardian of the hidden, he is a man forged by hardship and tempered by the relentless pursuit of his prey. Though he does not share the blood of House Caergwyn, his bond with them is deeper than lineage, he is their protector, their confidant, and in many ways, their second father. Beryn's past is one of blood and sorrow. Born into a family of foresters and hunters, his early life was spent learning the ways of the land, how to track, how to read the shifting winds, how to survive in the deepest reaches of the wild. But that life was torn from him in a single night. His family was slaughtered by a horror that should not have existed, a creature born of shadow and nightmare. He alone survived, left with nothing but the cold certainty that the world was far more dangerous than most would ever believe. From that moment, vengeance became his purpose, but vengeance alone could not sustain him. Hunting down the creatures that lurked in the darkness was more than just retribution, it became a duty, a responsibility. Someone had to keep the night at bay, to ensure that others would not suffer as he had. And so, Beryn took up the mantle of Monster Hunter, dedicating his life to studying, tracking, and destroying the unnatural threats that walked the earth.

Beryn is a Ranger in the truest sense, a man who knows the wilderness as well as he knows the weight of his own weapons. He moves through the forests like a shadow, unseen and unheard until it is too late. He is a master of survival, capable of enduring the harshest conditions with nothing but his wits and skill. His knowledge of creatures, both mundane and monstrous, is unmatched, making him an invaluable ally in battle. He wields a bow with deadly precision, his arrows striking true even in the most impossible conditions. His twin hunting knives are worn with age and use, their edges sharpened by years of battle. But his greatest weapon is his mind, keen, calculating, and always prepared for the unexpected. No monster, no sorcerer, no unnatural force escapes his pursuit.

Beryn's path eventually led him to the House of Caergwyn, drawn by a chance encounter with Daeniael and Samiael when they were still young. Recognizing their potential and the heavy burden they carried he became their mentor, their protector, and, in time, their family. Though he does not share their noble lineage, he stands beside them as an equal, bound not by blood but by loyalty. To Samiael, he is a grounding force, ensuring that the young scholar does not lose himself entirely in the pursuit of forgotten knowledge. To Daeniael, he is both an advisor and a comrade-in-arms, fighting at his side in the most dangerous of battles. To both, he is a second father, offering wisdom honed by experience and a firm hand when needed. Despite his gruff demeanor and often sharp tongue, his care for the Caergwyn brothers is evident in everything he does. He may not always agree with their choices, but he will stand between them and death itself without hesitation.

Though he has spent much of his life hunting monsters, Beryn has also become a silent guardian of a far greater secret, the hidden truth of the Sinna'quessir Tir'vanya. Though he does not fully grasp the depths of their lost knowledge, he understands the weight of it. He knows that if the wrong hands were to uncover the truth, the world would tremble. He aids House Caergwyn in their mission, not for the sake of scholarly curiosity, but because he understands the price of failure. If the keepers of this forgotten order were to fall, there would be no one left to stop the darkness from consuming everything. Beryn Sinthariel does not seek glory, nor does he expect reward. He fights not for recognition, but because someone must. His body bears the scars of a hundred battles, each wound a testament to the horrors he has faced. But he does not waver, for the hunt never ends.

In the dead of night, when the world is at its most vulnerable, he stands watch. In the wild places where no sane man dares tread, he walks without fear. And in the battle against the darkness, he will never falter.
